Providing Efficient SaaS-based Services

The overly strong focus on “ITIL compliance” in the digital age has forced the vendors to create products with little differentiation and several technological constraints. Many implementations have also suffered from extensive customisations , locking the customer into “old” technology and solutions, without being able to utilise new response HTML5 based GUIs and non-ITIL processes such as HR, Payroll, etc. Manag-E Nordic AS—a leading Micro Focus (formerly HPE Software) partner in the Nordic area, nips these challenges in the bud with its SaaS-based services delivered out of a Norwegian data center. Manag-E Nordic has implemented a modern application— SMAX (Micro Focus’ Service Management Automation X) that runs as a SaaS service, with a responsive user interface and codeless configuration, which allows seamless updating of the application as new versions come along, without any customisation issues. “Manag-E AS was founded in 1999 and merged with Information Partner AS in 2006 to form the current Manag-E Nordic organisation. We have recently reformulated our statement of focus to: Manag-E provides IT-tools and services for Digitalisation, Automation, and Monitoring in keeping with today’s terminology,” asserts Rolf Frydenberg, the CEO, and Partner at Manag-E.

SMAX is built on a foundation that includes AI functionality (from the Micro Focus IDOL product) and Machine Learning (from the Micro Focus Vertica product).

As a solution-oriented organisation, Manag-E provides advisory and consulting services ranging from IT strategy such as sourcing application portfolio management to project management, solution design, and of course, implementation and customisation of the products, even including maintenance, operations, and support services for the customers.

As an HPE Software Gold Partner that has been in the industry for more than 15 years, Manag-E has delivered HP SW licenses for on-premise and SaaS as well as support and consulting services, and helped customers to design solutions and configure right products, processes, and procedures for ensuring the efficient operation of IT systems. For instance, the municipality of Bærum with a population of around 120,000 in Norway needed to improve their processes for managing internal and external service delivery within the realms of HR, payroll, accounting, and purchasing. Their current systems were not able to support all these areas with the amount of “service requests” that were to be managed. Manag-E delivered SMAX as a service, with processes that digitalised and automated the handling of these requests, removing almost 100 forms in the process. Another such example is a large service provider in Norway, which needed to provide a better process for interacting with its major customers for a software development project and their existing service management solution could not handle it. Manag-E stepped in with SMAX as a Service and had a new efficient process up and running in five days.

The company is significantly extending its customer base and adding more capabilities to SMAX as a Service. For the future, Manag-E aims to add more services to its portfolio; operable from Norway or other Nordic countries. “Automation is getting a boost in the marketplace, and we expect significant projects and service/product deliveries in the area of automation and Robotic Process Automation (RPA). Information governance, driven by GDPR compliance needs and protection of personal data is also expected to increase significantly,” states Frydenberg.
